Roles & Permissions

Understand Owner, Admin, and Member roles in Formula Bot Teams — what each role can do and how permissions work.

Every team member is assigned one of three roles: Owner, Admin, or Member. Roles determine what actions a member can take within the team workspace.

Role Descriptions

Owner

The person who created the team. There is exactly one Owner per team. The Owner has full control over the team, including billing, member management, and all content. Ownership can be transferred to another member.

Admin

Admins help manage the team day-to-day. They can invite and remove Members, manage shared content, and configure data access settings. Admins cannot change billing, manage other Admins, or transfer ownership.

Member

Members can create and view shared content — chats, files, playbooks, and reports. They have read/write access to the team workspace but cannot manage other members or change team settings.

Admins can only invite and remove Members — they cannot manage other Admins or the Owner.

Connector credentials are protected — only the person who originally created the connector can update its credentials. This applies regardless of role: even Owners and Admins cannot edit credentials on connectors they didn't create. They can, however, delete a connector and re-add it with new credentials.

Changing Roles

Only the Owner can change member roles:

  • Promote a Member to Admin
  • Demote an Admin to Member

Transferring Ownership

The Owner can transfer ownership to any other team member. This is a permanent action — the previous Owner becomes an Admin. See Managing Members for details.
